Getting to Troy

Hisarlik is the modern name for the ancient site of Troy. Most of what is visible is the remains of the excavation by Schliemann, the famous archaeologist. Lying 340 km (211 miles) west of Istanbul on the highway to Izmir, Troy is best accessed from the town of Çanakkale on the western bank of the Dardanelles, a narrow strait of great strategic importance between Europe & Turkey. The transportation is easy, and mainly by minibuses running frequently from the city center.
